The iPad has been enjoying its success as the undisputed king of tablets ever since it was released. Apple created two devices, the iPad and the iPad 2, which could not be matched in popularity by any other tablet released after them. It is not surprising since the iPad successfully integrated a simple user interface and lots of great applications.
iPad's operating system, iOs 5 looks great but is simpler than any other Os. This is probably the guess why other tablets like the Galaxy Tab or the Xoom could not outdone the iPad. Android tablets are deemed too involved by most users.
Cheap Android Tablet
However, the reign of the iPad could be threatened with a new Android device. Asus brought all they can on their newest tablet, the Transformer Prime. The Prime is a major upgrade to the old Asus tablet, the Transformer. Is it the iPad killer we have been waiting for?
Comparing products with the iPad is not new. The device has become the barometer for every tablet that comes out. The one that came close to winning over Apple's tablet is Amazon's Kindle Fire. However, its users found out that it was no iPad killer because it was a class of its own. It was cheap, had exiguous functions and is best mighty for reading books. Thus, we start the quest again for suitable tablet comparisons.
Then there was the Transformer Prime. It is the first ever tablet to have a quad-core processor. That means it is way faster than any other tablet in the market. The Gpu (Graphics Processing Unit) of the Prime is also impressive, more impressive than the iPad 2. The Transformer Prime's classic specs over the iPad gave way to an additional one comparison: Transformer Prime vs iPad.
The Prime was a 10.1 inch tablet with a ridiculous screen resolution. The newest Android Os, Ice Cream Sandwich, looks spectacular on it. Of course, movies and photos also look great on the Transformer Prime. Incorporate that with a very fast processor and classic Gpu, and you have the best tablet taste you can ever have.
Despite its classic hardware and software weaponry, the Transformer Prime is not that expensive. Actually, it is even cheaper than the iPad 2. The 32 Gb Wi-Fi and 3G model is priced at 9. In contrast, the same iPad 2 model is priced at 9.
Another edge for the Transformer Prime is its battery life. It can last for 12 hours of web use. In retrospect, the iPad 2 can last only ten hours. But that is not all because connecting the Prime with its elective dock center can enlarge its life up to 18 hours! The dock also "transforms" the Prime to a super slim laptop computer. It also adds extra ports like Usb and Sd card slots. The Prime itself contains an Hdmi port and a microSd slot. Only one of these slots are gift in the iPad 2.
All in all, the Transformer Prime is more impressive than the iPad 2. The only thing that remains to be seen is if users will accept the Prime as the iPad killer. This comparison is more threatening to Apple than the Kindle Fire vs. Ipad debate. But we will see if the Transformer Prime could surely bring the iPad on its heels.
